Carols’ Daughter is most definitely an OG that has built their reputation around creating products for natural hair girls to use. But lately it has been going under as not being a not so reliable brand. So does it work for type 4 hair?

As someone who has utilized most of the Carol’s Daughter line and also has type 4 hair. If I wanted a line that had the same if not similar properties to Garnier or L’oreal I would most definitely recommend Carol’s Daughter. Now most people would object to formula changes and the products not being as effective. But Carol’s Daughter products are not products formulated to weigh down hair and can be used on a more consistent based. Also, I would highly recommend the Black Vanilla Moisturizing line for those searching for a cleansing shampoo with out the drying effects on the scalp. The conditioner was great for smoothing out my hair strands and increasing overall definition with my curls. (These results stemmed from washing more than once a week and not using heavy products.)
Another line that I would recommend is the Carol’s Daughter Coco creme shampoo and conditioner. I personally do not use the creams because heavy creams do not work well with my hair. If I had to guess it’s probably due to my hair being more towards low porosity. So I stick with the simpler method of shampoo and condition. But I found that the Coco Creme Shampoo was extremely similar to the OGX Quenching Curl line and provided the same results. I noticed my hair felt more hydrated afterwards and the curl definition was most definitely noticeable.
As of today these are the few that I have personally tried and would give the thumbs up. But I would probably lean more towards women with low porosity hair to use and then follow up with a light weight leave in conditioner. Remember that using too many products on low porosity hair doesn’t always allow for product to absorb. That can created dry hair as well.
